No school?

The girls did not have school today? Huh? I found out about this on Friday after receiving an weekly email from Emma's teacher. Low and behold it was on my calender I just didn't realize it. Grandma and Grandpa Nichols are here for a couple of days. They came to see emma's dance competition and to go skiing with Emma's class on Tuesday. So it was a bonus that the girls did not have school.

So what to do? We decided to take the girls swimming at the Monticello community center. I just love taking the girls there because they have a zero depth pool that is perfect for Katelyn as she doesn't like to go over her head. They also have a water slide and more advance stuff for Emma. All the dreaded things about a pool were perfect today tho. It was warm and very sunny outside the water and the pool was not super chloriny (is that a word?). It was also quiet, I think there were 2 other families our whole stay.

Our attitude for the adventure was to be laid back, relax and let the kids swim as long as they wanted. Well that was about two hours (not so bad). We were so proud of Katelyn because she finally tried the water slide. She has been deathly afraid of it but Emma showed her that she wouldn't go under the water when she was spit out at the end. So she tried it once, well that did it.. huge smile and back up the stairs she went for more fun.

Only downside to our adventure was Grandpa Nichols stubbed his toe in the pool. He thought he may have broken it. eeeks. We hope he can also ski with Emma tomorrow!
