The Year of the Dragon

Emma returned from school on Monday very excited about the upcoming week at school. She said three subjects were canceled this week and everyone was concentrating on building Chinese Dragons which they would showcase on Friday over lunch. But she wanted to know if she could use my oriental umbrella to use for their dragon. She kept saying 'Please mom.. everyone is counting on it..'. It was fine with me as it was broke from their use anyway. She spent the rest of the evening constructing some gold horns for their dragon.

On Friday over the lunch periods the 4th graders showcased their works of art by having a parade through the cafeteria. I arrived with a subway lunch treat for Emma and surprisingly bumped into Katelyn in the lunch room. Her class was going to watch the parade for the second time! All her friends gathered around me giving me hugs and welcoming me. It was so cute.

The dragons commenced throughout the lunchroom. It was so fun to see everyones creation. It was also easy to find emma's group with the tall blue oriental umbrella reaching for the sky. Check out the pictures its so fun to see how much detail the kids have put into their dragons. No wonder it took all week to create.
